Beyond the Casino: Best Steakhouses in Las Vegas

A visit to Las Vegas is often about living large. It’s a town to enjoy late-night gambling, luxe spas, big-name entertainment and fine dining. Here’s a look at a few of this glamorous city’s most elegant steakhouses, where carnivores can savor a sophisticated meal, and worry about their cholesterol levels later.

Jean-Georges Steakhouse
The swanky black-and-gold dining room of celeb chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten steakhouse welcomes carnivores for a world-class steak dinner. Located in the ARIA, the restaurant is known for its tableside carvery, which includes smoked Wagyu brisket, a 42-ounce Wagyu tomahawk and a 36-ounce porterhouse. Not feeling red meat? Try the crispy sushi sampler or tuna tartare. 3730 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas; 702-590-8660; www.aria.com.

Craftsteak

Located in the District of the MGM Grand, Tom Colicchio’s Las Vegas steakhouse is rich with dark woods and leather. Meat lovers will appreciate the restaurant’s A5 Japanese Wagyu, a 24-hour braised short rib and 40-ounce, 30-day dry-aged rib eye. Colicchio uses top ingredients from family farms, artisanal producers and day-boat fisherman. Sides include such yummy selections as shrimp and grits with parmesan, heirloom cauliflower with garlic confit and asparagus with lemon zest. 3799 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas; 702-891-7318; www.mgmgrand.com.

CUT by Wolfgang Puck
Choose from Japanese Wagyu, American Wagyu, a petite filet from Tasmania and several dry-aged steaks at this sleek Vegas steakhouse, where meats are grilled over a hardwood and charcoal fire and finished in a 1,200-degree broiler. With more than 500 wines on the menu, diners can wash down their meal with a bold red or buttery chardonnay. 3325 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas; 702-607-6300; wolfgangpuck.com.

SW Steakhouse
Set in the Wynn, this traditional steakhouse features seafood towers, caviar, wedge salads and Japanese Wagyu registered with Japan’s Kobe Beef Federation. It’s fancy and indulgent, but what else would you expect in Las Vegas? 3131 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas; 702-770-3325; www.wynnlasvegas.com.
